Junior Citizen

Safeside Junior Citizen is a 2 hour 15 minute interactive programme for primary school children in Year 5. Smaller schools, or schools with mixed age classes can be catered for by arrangement.

Groups of up to 66 children are welcomed at the start of their Safeside visit. They are then divided up into smaller groups, each with a trained volunteer Visitor Guide. The Guide will lead them round eleven safety village scenarios in a tour lasting 1 hour and 50 minutes. Guides use a mix of teaching and learning styles in a realistic environment, enabling all children to learn effectively. The tour concludes with an interactive quiz using Qwizdom voting pods, allowing all children to demonstrate their learning.

The programme covers a wide range of safety and citizenship issues relevant to this age group including:

  • In car safety
  • Rail safety
  • Domestic safety
  • Fire safety
  • Road safety
  • Consequences of crime
  • Restricted goods
  • Personal safety
  • Using the bus
  • Cycling safety
  • Water safety
  • What to do in an emergency

We can offer adapted programmes for visitor groups with special needs. Please ask for details.
